The Wales Legal Awards have been established to celebrate the success of those practising in and providing services to the legal profession. 

The awards will identify excellence in all parts of the legal community including claimant law, corporate and commercial, employment, property and construction, residential and conveyancing, and commercial litigation. There will also be a special award to recognise one individual’s outstanding contribution to the Welsh legal profession.

The black-tie event will take place on Friday 17th May 2019 at the Mercure Cardiff Holland House Hotel. The evening will start at 6.30pm with a drinks reception and the awards ceremony will take place after dinner. Tickets are available for purchase from the website.

    Charlotte Leyshon

    Charlotte is a Co-founder of the Wales Legal Awards and the owner of Lux Family Law a boutique family law firm.

    Charlotte was previously the Head of the Family Department at Hugh James having joined the firm in 2013. Prior to relocating to South Wales in 2013, Charlotte previously worked and practised law in London, most recently at the leading niche firm Family Law in Partnership.

    Professor Dylan Jones-Evans

    Professor Dylan Jones-Evans OBE is a Co-founder of the Wales Legal Awards. He is currently Assistant Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Enterprise) and the chair in entrepreneurship at the University of South Wales. He is visiting professor of entrepreneurship at the University of Turku in Finland, newspaper columnist and the creator of the Wales Fast Growth 50, the annual barometer of entrepreneurial firms in Wales.

Sarah has been the preferred recruitment supplier for Cardiff and District Law Society for the last 5 years, working closely with the Junior Lawyers Division of Cardiff annually and she is also an honorary member of Cardiff’s CILEx committee.

She has worked in legal publishing since 2010, initially for Jordan Publishing before joining Practical Law. Amandeep is a member of Resolution’s training and learning committee.

    A solicitor of 25 years PQE, Mumtaz was a sole practitioner, and thereafter moved into the Business Development arena for solicitors. Currently a key account manager at The Legal 500, Mumtaz is a board member at The Surrey Law Society where she also sits on the ‘Surrey Risk Managers’ Committee.

    Dafydd is a tenant at 29 Bedford Row Chambers, London. He is a child care practitioner with expertise in all areas of both private and public law. The emphasis of his practice is in children private law. Dafydd started his career as a Common law Barrister which gives him an understanding to the criminal aspects of cases. He has appeared at all levels of court (save the Supreme Court) and has been involved in a number of appeals to the Court of Appeal.

    Matthew is head of TLT’s England & Wales Licensing team. Matthew has presented and defended many hundreds of applications before local licensing authorities and Magistrates courts. He has significant experience in making difficult applications often in cumulative impact policy areas. He is also a trustee of the British Institute of Inn Keeping, legal officer for the Welsh region of the Institute of Licensing and associate lecturer at the Emergency Planning College.

Clive is a Member of the Law Society’s Personal Injury Panel and a Fellow of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers.

She runs her own law firm Bevan-Evans & Capehorn with the Head Office being based in Chepstow.
