The leading legal awards celebrating excellence in Wales

Celebrating legal excellence in Wales

Established in 2019 by Lux Family Law, the Wales Legal Awards celebrate the success of those teams practising in and providing services to the legal profession in Wales.

The nominations are judged by an expert, independent panel of judges from across the sector, including representatives from The Law Society Gazette and Presidents of regional law societies in Wales. Once a shortlist is created, our judges take the time to interview each shortlisted team or individual to identify the category winners.

Our judging panel comprises a diverse range of highly experienced and peer-regarded individuals in their field who each offer a unique perspective and point of reference when assessing nominations and interviewing those shortlisted.

Charlotte Leyshon, Founder of the Wales Legal Awards 2022 & Partner, Lux Family Law, said:

We are thrilled that the Wales Legal Awards can go ahead in 2022. Wales has so much talent to celebrate in the legal sector and the last two years has really shown the ability of the sector to diversify and excel.

Despite difficult times during the pandemic many law firms have seen their teams diversify, grow and excel in the service they offer to their clients. We are very excited to all be able to celebrate this success in person at the black tie event in May.

New categories for 2022

This year, the Wales Legal Awards will include two new award categories: our Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Award – sponsored by the Solicitors Regulation Authority – and our Innovation in Legal Services Award.

Our categories again include an overall award for the Welsh Legal Team of the Year – sponsored by Yolk Recruitment, Rising Star of the Year – sponsored by Grant Stephens Family Law, and a special award that recognises one individual’s outstanding contribution to the Welsh legal profession.

Chairman of the judging panel, Professor Dylan Jones-Evans, said:

Despite the ongoing challenges that the pandemic presents, there are fantastic opportunities for Welsh firms to thrive, to win new work, to attract and retain talent as well as nurture current talent.

Our sponsors

We are delighted to introduce our sponsors for this year’s awards, some of which are returning sponsors of the Wales Legal Awards. Our greatest thanks to them all – for their time and support during the year, especially our returning headline sponsor Yolk Recruitment.

“Yolk Recruitment is thrilled to support the Wales Legal Awards for the third year, in what’s been another challenging period. We would encourage the Welsh legal sector to enter the Wales Legal Awards 2022; having this accolade is a huge USP for firms, a way to thank their employees and the brand-new category for equality and diversity is a real opportunity for firms to highlight growth in this incredibly important area." - Dale Williams, Co-Founder, Yolk Recruitment.

Our Charity of the Year 2022

We are delighted to announce that our charity of the year is Head for Change – a start up charitable foundation, pioneering positive change for brain health in sport and supporting ex-players who are affected by neurodegenerative disease as a result of their professional sporting career in football or rugby.
